Well, 10 Months Later...

As most of you know, my trip to Utah flamed out after an accident on the road the first evening. I do plan to Best Friends in the future, but don't know when yet.

My trailer sustained a lot of damage in the accident. I wavered for many months over whether to keep the trailer, as the accident was a very scary event, for me and for my two cats, Billy & Buddie Grace. I finally did decide to do the repairs and should get the trailer back in the next few days.

In the meantime, it's been a year of ups and downs. I've moved into Senior Housing in Berkeley, and it's been quite an experience making all of the adjustments. Suddenly there are people all around me when I've been used to coming and going rather anonymously. I meet new people every day. Maybe sometime I'll tell you about "the stalker" and "the cat hater". It gets to be a little much sometimes, and I use the "back door" instead of going through the always busy lobby.

B & BG can't wander freely here as they are used to. They are supposed to be on leashes whenever they are out of the apartment. They must be kidding (I wish). I don't know if you've ever tried to put cats on leashes, but it was both sad and hilarious. They don't mind the harnesses so much, but the leashes? No thanks.

Billy has figured out to get down to the garden once I open the door to the bridge that connects my building to the next one (shhhh...don't tell, he's not wearing anything!). When he wants to come back home, he waits by the door for someone (anyone) to open it, sprints down the hallway and pushes open our apartment door. Pretty smart guy. Buddie's too much of a scaredy-cat to try that, but she does take the occasional stroll (accompanied by me, as per the "rules") part way down the hallway.

Bye for now. I'll be back sooner next time.
